The SDGs in the company itself

FRUITS DE PONENT COOPERATIVE GROUP SCCL incorporates sustainability into the heart of its daily business management, as well as into its relationship with stakeholders. The Group views sustainability as a cross-cutting concept (in all strata of the company) which encompasses the economic, environmental and social plan. To summarise, at Fruits de Ponent we strive to ensure the ethical nature of our economic growth, causing the least environmental impact possible and respecting the community.

This path has led us to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the daily operations of the Cooperative Group.

Members of the Spanish Network of the Global Compact, the Group’s commitment to the health of the planet was born long before, in 2012, when it signed the 10 principles of the Global Compact, which year after year it reconfirms. The Ten Principles of the Global Compact are derived from United Nations declarations on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and enjoy universal consensus.

Years later, in 2017, we joined the Spanish Network of the Global Compact and, more specifically, the Agricultural Companies Working Group. The result of this step is that today, some of the 17 goals represent an integral part of the Cooperative Group’s management. These goals include working to end world hunger, working towards gender equality in the occupational sphere, seeking out cooperative alliances and applying green energy.

Every year, the Group publishes a Sustainability Report which reports this work in a measurable way, which is reflected in its SG21 Certification, which audits the social responsibility of companies.
