XAPFREE Operating Group "Comprehensive and sustainable control of bacterial spot to minimise financial and environmental impact in almond and peach trees"
The principal aim of this project consists in improving efficiency in the control of bacterial spot (Xanthomonas arboricola pv. Pruni) in almond and peach trees, thereby reducing dependence on phytosanitary products. The secondary goals consist in streamlining the use of phytosanitary products, prioritising defence methods with low environmental impact, reducing the level of residues on fruit and, finally, fostering cooperation for innovation between the producing sector and research.

SOUR-PEACH Operating Group "Control of sour rot in stone fruit in the context of sustainability"
Sour rot is an emerging disease which affects stone fruit and can occasionally cause very high losses. The disease is caused by Geotrichum spp., with a microbial consortium which also includes yeasts in the Pichia spp. genus. It is consequently difficult to control, given that epidemiology and product efficacy must be studied side by side for both types of microorganisms. To control sour rot, the commercially available synthetic chemicals currently applied in the field and/or post-harvest are not effective. This project will examine the disease’s epidemiology, both in the field and post-harvest, and will focus on both pre- and post-harvest strategies for controlling it, including alternative products and systems. Furthermore, it will investigate cultural practices to apply in the field to determine their effectiveness in the control of sour rot. Finally, all the knowledge generated, and any control tools proven effective, will be incorporated into a single control strategy which will be validated in the commercial sphere.

GO PAM. New seasons of industrial production of aromatic and medicinal plants in the traditional agricultural systems of Catalonia

The Operative Group ‘PAM in CAT’ aims to analyze the behavior of different commercial varieties of a set of aromatic and medicinal plant species (PAM) that could be cultivated on a commercial scale in different agricultural settings in Catalonia.
For this, those species that are in good demand in the market have been chosen and they have been planted in three plots located in Las Garrigues, La Noguera and La Segarra. The partners that are part of this operating group are Grupo Cooperativo Fruits de Ponent, as leader; Aigües del Segarra-Garrigues, Ventós Laboratory and Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia.
The total budget is € 179,870.00 with funding from DARP and the EU of € 128,963.3 and own funding from Fruits de Ponent and Aigües del Segarra-Garrigues of € 50,906.70.

GO PEACHNIR

The PEACHNIR operating group ‘Automatic classification of peaches and nectarines according to their state of maturity using non-destructive NIR technology’ started in 2019 with the aim of being able to obtain a product of uniform quality differentiated for different markets. The producer and marketer sector collaborate in the execution of the project, through the Fruits de Ponent Cooperative Group from Alcarràs (Lleida) and the horticultural company Baró e Hijos S.L. Albatàrrec (Lleida), as well as the scientific and technological sector with the participation of IRTA and the manufacturer of sorting machines Maf Roda Agrobotic.

GOMORI

It is an Operational Group whose main objective is to control postharvest diseases of peaches and nectarines caused by Monilinia spp. and Rhizopus spp. using strategies that do not leave residues on the fruit at harvest time, in order to be able to access the most demanding markets. The producer and marketing sector collaborate in the execution of the project, through Fruits de Ponent, Agropecuaria and the credit section of Soses SCCL and SAT Fruta de Alcarràs, as well as the scientific and technological sector with the participation of IRTA. The Gomori project is financed through Operation 16:01:01 of Cooperation for Innovation of the Rural Development Program of Catalonia 2014-2020.

GO FORECAST

An Operational Group project based on the use of data and Big Data technologies to develop prediction models that anticipate information on the evolution of quality parameters and harvest volumes for the peach and cherry sector. In this way, it is possible to improve the reliability of harvest planning, a critical factor for the competitiveness of fruit producing companies.

FRUIT RIS3CAT

New varieties of fruits resistant to diseases and of high organoleptic quality.
The objective of this project is to obtain new varieties of apple, pear and peach tree resistant to the main diseases of high economic impact in the fruit-growing areas of Catalonia, which at the same time have a high quality and are adapted to the climatic conditions of these production areas.
This project is co-financed by the European Funds for Regional Development of the European Union within the framework of the ERDF Catalonia 2014-2020 Operational Program with the help of 75,149.41 euros.
